Teresa O.

Woman holding laundry basket, as she moves into her new apartment.

Meet Teresa O.! After facing incredible challenges, from losing her home to living on the streets, Teresa found her way to The Bridge with the help of our Outreach team.

With determination and the support of our dedicated staff, she overcame obstacles like obtaining legal documents, finding employment, and accessing crucial mental health and medical care.

Biggest Challenges she overcame:

1. Legal documents – Teresa did not have any legal documents when she came to the bridge initially. Her Care Manager linked her with the Stewpot, and she was able to obtain her SSC BC and ID.

2. Income – Teresa needed assistance getting a job. Once she obtained her legal documents, she was linked with the Bridge’s employment specialist and was able to obtain employment.

3. Mental Health – Teresa was linked with the Bridge’s on-site MetroCare clinic for mental health support, counseling and medications to manage her symptoms.

4. Medical – Teresa was linked with the Bridge’s on-site Parkland Clinic for ongoing medical care.

5. Counseling – Living on the Streets, Teresa experienced difficult life events and trauma. She received support and counseling from the Bridge’s therapist to help her manager her symptoms and move past traumatic events.

Today, Teresa is thriving in her new apartment, with ongoing support from her Care Manager and the Permanent Supportive Housing team.

Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and community. 🏡💪✨
