Starting February 15, 2021, most of Texas was hunkering down in their homes due to the Winter Storm that hit our state. Many lost power and heat, and some experienced bursting pipes and floods. All of which we experienced here at The Bridge campus.
So many community members and friends from all over the country came alongside us to help keep our Guests safe and warm. We received donations of warm food, blankets and hand warmers, and cash to cover the cost of portable heating units. Donations also allowed us to cover the costs of repair expesnes we accumulated.
During the Winter Storm we had a unique opportunity to send some of our staff to the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Center where unsheltered homeless individuals were staying to keep warm during the storm. Our staff engaged many of these folks and connected some to our services.
Though it was a tough week, we were reminded of the resiliency of our community and of the generosity of our country. We are so grateful to have quickly recovered and to have been able to keep our doors open for our Guests.
